Group Club Run – 15th May 2022 – the Welsh Marches

The Welsh Marches

Its my turn to front up the club ride out for May (15th) and I thought I had better get something out there to publicise it.  When idly speculating out loud where to go at the last club meet, Mr Vest chirped in with “Why don’t we go the route to Wales you we went on before COVID and the petrol shortage…?”  It was such a good idea, thats what I am planning to do.

So we are off to the Welsh Marches (a geographically indistinct area that can be anything to anyone).

The route will start with a meeting up at Willington Services (DE65 6DX) at 9am. From there we go Market Drayton, Ironbridge (coffee), Cleobury Mortimer, Ludlow, Knighton, Cross Gates (actually in Wales), Newton, Shrewsbury, and a legal dash down the A5 home.

The route is suitable for all grades of rider. Its good quality road all the way, no grass growing in the middle of the road, no farm tracks, no bends requiring a three-point turn, and occasionally has a nice view.  It does feature (arguably) ‘the best motorcycling road in Wales’. Associates and members – get it in your diary.

It is an all-day event. 265 miles, start to finish, estimated time of arrival back in Derby is 4pm.
